There are four pushbuttons:

1)  SEQUENCE START

2)  SEQUENCE SELECT

Selects one of the eight selectable sequences:
1 minute dinghy start (abbreviated 3 minute dinghy start)
2 minute dinghy start (abbreviated 3 minute dinghy start)

5 minute rolling start for 2001 - 2004 RRS rule 26
MatchRace Sequence, Appendix C

5 minute rolling start. (also known as the ten minute start)

Depress and release SEQUENCE SELECT and the beeper will sound off which sequence is currently selected.
1 minute RRS start is 1 beep
1 minute RRS start is 2 beeps
3 minute RRS start is 3 beeps
5 minute rolling start for 2001 is 5 beeps

2 minute rolling start is 2 beeps-shortpause-2 beeps
3 minute rolling start is 3 beeps-shortpause-3 beeps

Depress and hold SEQUENCE SELECT to select a new sequence.  The beeper will sound off the sequences.  Release SEQUENCE SELECT while the desired sequence is sounding to make it the new selected sequence.

1 minute RRS/ICYRA start

A shortened version of the RRS/ICYRA 3 minute start.  It just leaves off the first two minutes.  This is good for practicing position at the start line.

'Shape Alert' sets the time of the horn alert prior to the start sequence.  It may be eliminated or set to zero to 60 seconds prior to the start sequence

15 seconds prior to a horn, the beeper sounds once, and then at 5-4-3-2-1 seconds to alert the RC to the impending blast.

2 minute RRS/ICYRA start

A shortened version of the RRS/ICYRA 3 minute start.  It just leaves off the first  minute.  This is good for frostbite races.

3 minute RRS/ICYRA start (RRS Appendix Q)

Follows the ICYRA/RRS sequence.   It provides a complete automated dinghy start sequence.

5 minute  start for 2001-2004 (RRS rule 26)

Issues a single horn at five, four, one, and zero minutes.

'Shape Alert' sets the time of the horn alert prior to the start sequence.  It may be eliminated or set to 20 to 60 seconds prior to the start sequence

15 seconds prior to a horn, the beeper sounds once, and then at 5-4-3-2-1 seconds to alert the RC to prepare to raise or lower shapes.

Matchrace Sequence, Appendix C

'Shape Alert' sets the time of the attention blast.  It may be set from ten minutes to five minutes.

2 minute rolling start

Issues a single horn every two minutes.

15 seconds prior to a horn the beeper sounds once and then at 5-4-3-2-1 seconds to alert the RC to prepare to raise shapes.

The beeper also sounds once 15 seconds prior to the Shape Alert and then at 5-4-3-2-1 seconds to the Shape Alert beep to prepare the RC to prepare to lower shapes.

3 minute rolling start

Issues a single horn every three minutes.  Beeper alerts as in 2 minute rolling start.

5 minute rolling start (Pre-2001)

Issues a single horn every five minutes.  Beeper alerts as in 2 minute rolling start.

15 seconds prior to a horn, the beeper sounds once, and then at 5-4-3-2-1 seconds to alert the RC to prepare to raise shapes.

The beeper also sounds once 15 seconds prior to the Shape Alert beep and then at 5-4-3-2-1 seconds to the Shape Alert beep to alert the RC to prepare to lower shapes.

3)  SHAPE ALERT SELECT

Sets the Shape Alert for rolling starts.  This is the beeper warning to the race committee to lower the shape.  It can be set to beep from zero to 60 seconds (in 10 second increments) prior to the horn.

For the dinghy and five minute sequence, 'Shape Alert' sets the time of the horn alert prior to the start sequence.  It may be eliminated or set to zero to 60 seconds prior to the start sequence

To find out the Shape Alert duration, push and release SHAPE ALERT SELECT.  It will beep once for every 10 seconds of duration (3 beeps will sound the attention at 30 seconds prior to the next horn, 6 beeps at sixty seconds).

Push and hold SHAPE ALERT SELECT to select a new duration.  The beeper will sound out in a 1-2-3-4-5-6 beep sequence.  Release SHAPE ALERT SELECT during the desired duration.

4)  MANUAL HORN

The manual horn button.  Use this anytime you need a blast.  It also works during a sequence.  It does not affect the sequence in any way.

RESET

Depressing SEQUENCE SELECT and SHAPE ALERT SELECT together will reset the unit.
